Lab Section: Serology
Description: The IBR Kinetic ELISA detects antibodies to IBR
Min Sample Volume: 100 uL
Collection Container: red top blood collection tube
Coolant: Refrigerate
Test Target: Antibody
Test Days: 2-3x/wk
Test Turnaround (business days): 2 days
KELA titers range from Negative (less than 2) to Positive (greater than or equal to 2, and greater than 1000).
Surveillance and Export Testing: a single serum sample should be submitted for a healthy or unvaccinated animal. A "Negative" result indicates that antibody is not detected at a serum neutralization (SN) equivalent of a 1:2 dilution.
Clinical Disease Testing: paired samples, both acute (1st) and convalescent (2nd) should be submitted to demonstrate a significant rise in antibody titer and ideally should be submitted together.
A “Background” comment with a Negative result indicates that the sample had high non-specific background activity. In some cases, this activity will mask a low positive titer.
A “ Background” comment with a Positive result indicates that the sample had high non-specific background activity and some additional activity, which is most likely attributable to antibody. We suggest submission of another sample from animals with these result types to clarify or confirm antibody status.
