Equine Adenovirus 2 PCR - EAD2

Comment: EAdV-2 has not been identified in the United States as of 1/29/2014.  The clinical significance of infection is unclear.
Submit swabs in sterile, sealed vials with several drops of saline added, to prevent desiccation. Bacterial transport media are not appropriate. Cotton, plastic, wood-handled, and Dacron and other synthetic swabs are all acceptable. Calcium alginate swabs should be avoided.

Description: reverse transcriptase - quantitative polymerase chain reaction (RT-qPCR)

Min Sample Volume: One swab preferably in one ml of viral transport medium - saline moistened swab acceptable. One gram fecal material.

Collection Container: sealed, unbreakable container

Coolant: Refrigerate. Ship in insulated container with ice packs

Test Target: Nucleic Acid

Test Days: M-F as needed

Test Turnaround (business days): 2-3 days
