Details Reference Ranges Test Interpretations Lab Section: Virology Description: Complement Fixation Min Sample Volume: 100 ul Collection Container: red top blood collection tube Coolant: It is recommended to ship samples with an ice pack. Test Target: Antibody Test Days: Once per week Test Turnaround (business days): 5 days No Reference Ranges Species tested are bovine, ovine, caprine, and feline species. NOTE: This test has not been validated on feline species. For serum samples with no detectable antibody at the starting dilution (1:16) the report will indicate Negative at 1:16. This value meets sale and export requirements of negative at 1:32. The complement fixation antibody titer is the reciprocal of the highest dilution of serum that prevents lysis of target red blood cells to the extent defined by USDA protocols (endpoint dilution of 1:32 = antibody CF titer of 32). Titers are in units of antibody and as such all values reported without modifiers contain that specified amount of antibody in the sample. A "suspicious" will be reported when lysis inhibition occurs but not to the prescribed level. A result of "AC" (anticomplementary) will be reported when the test serum non-specifically reacts with test reagents in the absence of the appropriate antigen. print See Supplies for diagnostic supplies and shipping materials to meet your specimen needs.
